Viking Longships

As part of our Vikings WAU theme, we have been finding out about long-ships. We carried out an investigation into their size. In teams, we estimated their length according to the measurements we found through our research. Then we used measuring tapes, sticks and trundle wheels to check to see who was closest to 30 m. Jack's team were spot on. They used long strides to help them estimate. We had lots of discussion and had to listen to each other's ideas. It was a great activity and we learnt that Jack's big stride is about a metre!
