Update on works at St Patrick's
It's great to be able to tell you that the first of the double mobiles will be lifted in by crane on Saturday 20th May, 2017. (There is a possibility that two double units may be put in place!) Following the placing of the units, it will then take a few weeks to wire, plumb and complete fixtures and fittings and sort furniture before they can be handed over for classes to use. As yet, the Education Authority do not have a budget to give us towards the new fixtures and furniture but we hope to hear something as soon as they are given their limits.
Upwards and onwards, we will have the first classes into their new rooms before the end of June this year.
The Education Authority have also advised me that the application for Perimeter fencing is moving on to final tender stage. We do hope that this can be completed and works finished by end of August for the start of the new school year. Once again, the keenest bid will win the contract with Education Authority.
The outstanding optional closures for the school will be taken at the end of June to allow the contractors to demolish the last of the remaining mobiles and prepare the foundations for the remaining new double units to be installed. We deliberately held these days over until we knew what the contractor needed us to do to allow their work to be completed by end of August this year. This is also following the advice issued to all schools each year, that if you know works are happening during a school year, you must keep days over in reserve to accommodate the work.
September 2017 will be an exciting time for the staff and pupils of St Patrick's PS. The excellent teaching and learning can only be further enhanced through the new and up-to-date accommodation for our pupils and our staff in the mobiles and every child will avail of the new accommodation as the play room/resource room and the IT Suite/library will be for all to use. We will of course, have an 'official opening' before Halloween that will invite all to come and view the new face of St Patrick's PS, Annaghmore and we will inform you of the arrangements nearer the time.
I would, once again, like to thank all the staff and our children at St Patrick's for their brilliant support and patience during the temporary changes the works have generated for us this term.

Update on above:-
Contractor has asked to move the delivery date back slightly so that two double mobile units can be delivered on Tuesday 23rd & Wednesday 24th May, 2017. They will move in with all heavy plant machinery from 6:30am Tuesday next and assure all that health & safety are their top priority at all times. It will be exciting for the children to see the mobiles arriving and lifted in by crane to their positions at the back of the school.
I'm sure you, like all of us here, cant wait to see them installed!!
