P4 are bonkers about conkers!
23rd Sep 2021
During lunchtime play the Primary 4 children discovered lots of conkers which had fallen from the Horse Chestnut tree in the front garden. They even asked the teacher if they could 'learn about them back in the classroom'. We researched why conkers look the way they do and found out how to play the traditional game of conkers. We also learned some interesting facts on how they got their name (from a French word), who has tried eating them (the Victorians of course!) and the tip on how they can help with a spider problem! The children were excited to bring their new finds home this afternoon.
