Miss Anderson brings us to Annaghmore National School
Today was a very different school day for the Primary 7 children. Miss Anderson arrived and very quickly reminded us how lucky we are not to have been born during the Victorian era! We were separated into two lines, and sat on opposite sides of the classroom. We were taught Reading, Writing and Arithmetic and show how to respond when addressing the teacher and when another adult enters the classroom. Geography was next on the time table and we drew a compass on our slates. The lessons continued with Technical Drawing and discussion about Deportment (walking upright). We finished our lessons with Vocal Gymnastics and Physical Drills before being given homework (We were asked to learn the 14 x tables and to bring a piece of turf in for the fire) We were finally dismissed, girls before boys and were very glad to be able to get back to a more familiar routine after break time!
