‘Indoor Hurling & Camogie’ Heat 1: Clonoe
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain commenced their eagerly awaited series of games for 2020 when the first of four scheduled ‘Indoor Hurling and Camogie’ Heats across the county took place in Clonoe Community Centre. A total of ten enthusiastic teams competed in both codes.
The Hurling competition saw 5 schools lock horns using a round-robin format. Holy Trinity P.S. Cookstown, Primate Dixon P.S. Coalisland, and Gaelscoil Uí Néill, Cluain Eo, all narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Co. Final despite playing some terrific hurling. Instead, it is the lads from St. Patrick’s P.S. Annaghmore and St. John’s P.S. Kingsisland who qualify for next week’s County Hurling Final in Omagh Station Centre.
The Camogie tournament also saw these five schools doing battle in a similar round-robin fashion. The teams from Gaelscoil Uí Néill, Kingsisland, and Annaghmore all battled valiantly but, ultimately, in vain. Holy Trinity P.S. Cookstown and Primate Dixon P.S. Coalisland played some wonderful camogie to secure their places in next week’s Co. Camogie Final.
We wish the lads from Annaghmore and Kingsisland, and the girls from Holy Trinity and Primate Dixon all the very best next week in Omagh. Ádh mór oraibh.
Thanks to our county coaches, Colm Dillon & Damhlaic Rush, for their expert officiating, and to Patrick McGivern for coordinating events on what was an excellent day’s sport for all concerned.
Maith sibh go léir!
Many thanks to Mrs Kinsella who took our teams to the Heats today - despite the cold weather!!
